Effective date: June 8, 2026
Happy BirThey is a birthday reminder app built on a simple promise: your data stays in your iCloud, and we can't even see it.
This page explains, in plain language, what the app does — and doesn't do — with your information.
The short version
- We don't collect, store, sell, or share any of your personal data.
- There are no servers, no accounts, and no databases on our side. There's simply nothing that could hold your data.
- There are no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs in the app.
- Every birthday, name, photo, and note you add lives only on your device and in your own private iCloud — managed by Apple, accessible only to you. We couldn't read it even if we wanted to.
What the app keeps track of
Everything below is created and used on your device, and synced through your own private iCloud account. None of it ever reaches us.
| Information | What it's for | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| The names, birthdays, photos, and notes of people you add | Showing birthdays and reminding you in time | Your device + your private iCloud (CloudKit) |
| Your own name and birthday | Celebrating your day and greeting you by name | Your device only |
| Your language preference | Showing the app in your language | Your device only |
| Notification permission | Delivering birthday reminders | Managed by iOS |
iCloud sync
The app uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your birthdays in sync across your devices. Your records live in your private CloudKit database — a part of your personal iCloud account. By design, a developer cannot access, view, or export anything in a user's private database. Only you can, with your own Apple ID.
iCloud is operated by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Photos
When you pick a photo for someone, you do it through Apple's standard photo picker — the app never gets access to your photo library. Only the single photo you choose is saved, alongside that person's entry, on your device and in your private iCloud.
Notifications
Birthday reminders are local notifications, scheduled entirely on your device. Nothing is sent from a server, and the app never sends marketing or promotional notifications.
Analytics and tracking
There are none. No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no trackers, and no third-party code of any kind. We don't build a profile of you — there's no data collection to opt out of, because there is no data collection.
Children's privacy
Since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children either. Whatever a child enters stays on their device and in their family's iCloud, like any other personal note.
Deleting your data
You're always in control:
- Remove one entry by deleting that person inside the app.
- Remove everything by deleting the app, which clears its data from your device. To clear the synced copy too, go to your iCloud settings and delete the app's iCloud data from any device signed in with your Apple ID.
Since we never hold any of your data, there's nothing for us to delete on our side.
Your rights
Privacy laws like the GDPR (EU) and KVKK (Türkiye) give you rights over your personal data. Because everything stays on your device and in your own iCloud — and never reaches us — you can exercise those rights directly: edit or delete your data in the app whenever you like, no request needed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, we'll update the effective date above and publish the new version at this same address before it takes effect.
